Convergence Adjustment
If the red, green, and blue colors of a single spot on the screen are not properly aligned, you may need to adjust the convergence by turning potentiometers or adjusting convergence rings. Before adjusting convergence, use a marker to draw a line across the rings or potentiometer and a nearby stationary piece so that you can always return the ring to it's initial position to undo changes.
If the colors are only horizontally separated, you likely only need to adjust H STAT, which may have a dedicated potentiometer on the neckboard. Consult your CRT's service manual to identify which potentiometers and rings are which. Once the rings are set properly, you can make the adjustment more permanent using a bead of high temperature rated silicone sealant or aluminum tape.
Ring Name | Purpose |
---|---|
Purity | Factory set, do not adjust. |
V STAT | Adjusts vertical alignment of colors. |
Misconvergence | Only use if issue cannot be fixed completely with H STAT and V STAT. |
Below is a video of the convergence adjustment process.
